A demo of vibration monitoring for rotating equipment by Prylada
January 18, 2024
Rotating equipment, such as motors, pumps, turbines, compressors, and fans, is essential in many industrial processes. However, their operation is typically associated with vibration, which can cause damage, inefficiency, or failure. Therefore, it is important to monitor the vibration levels of your rotating equipment and detect any anomalies that may affect their performance or lifespan.
To demonstrate how this can be done, the Prylada team has developed a demo of vibration monitoring for rotating equipment using the Prylada IoT Gateway and presented it for the first time at SPS 2023. The demo set consists of a vibration platform that holds an industrial pump and the Prylada IoT Gateway. The pump is also equipped with a vibration sensor.
When the platform is turned on and the pump is exposed to vibration, the Prylada IoT Gateway reads the real-time data from the sensor and sends it to a remote control system for its storage, analysis, and visualization. The vibration platform also provides the possibility to adjust the vibration force and see how the pump reacts to different vibration levels.
The remote monitoring of vibration levels in industrial machines is a crucial part of predictive maintenance policy. Predictive maintenance, also known as condition-based maintenance, is an advanced scientific method that aims to optimize operating time and reduce unnecessary work. By using this method, maintenance teams can continuously evaluate the condition of equipment and plan for a service based on the results.
Predictive maintenance can have a significant impact on your manufacturing system and even your entire business model. A predictive maintenance system collects data from sensors to constantly monitor and assess the current state of equipment. This helps manufacturing companies anticipate potential problems, schedule maintenance activities in advance, and fix problematic assets before they cause major issues. By adopting predictive maintenance, you can lower the risks of machinery downtime and bring more order to the service and production processes.
If you need to control some critical equipment used in the production lifecycle (such as drivers, pumps, or generators) or monitor additional parameters in your production facilities, you can rely on Prylada to help you implement predictive maintenance and cut down operational costs.
